PROGRAMME NOTES
Soft shapes and appealing textures set up expectations that the film deliberately breaks. That friction is the engine of its horror comedy. The forest has the tactile detail of a miniature set, while the characters’ broad performances make their personalities legible quickly. This is the late-night corner of the programme: the visual charm does not make it a children’s film. Compare the acting test with the finished performance in the screening.
A test of Rex’s performance, rendered during production. A small clip about the large job of establishing character.
