PROGRAMME NOTES
Scale does much of the storytelling here. The girl and dog give the landscape a human measure, while the spirits disrupt it. The changing light and weather make the setting feel active, rather than a decorative background. With little need for dialogue, the film leaves room for movement, music and hesitation. A useful pairing with Sintel: both place a young traveller in a vast world, but their emotional rhythms are very different.
A work-in-progress sequence, before the final film. Compare the visual priorities here with the completed screening.
